Hello from our new head coach - Patrick Gorman
Posted by Daryl McCartney on 4 December 2017
Just a quick note to introduce myself as the new head coach and update you on the tennis programme that is currently on offer at Woldingham.
The coaching team would be happy to help you with your tennis whether you're starting out, getting back into the game or are seasoned player.
Why Play Tennis?
Tennis is a sport that covers many key human needs, whether you want to learn the strokes, keep fit, compete or use it socially, tennis has it all. It's also rated as one of the best sports for co ordination for children - and of course fun too!
Below is the tennis coaching currently available at Woldingham LTC plus new classes and plans for the future
Junior Coaching Programme
We have a comprehensive pathway for children's classes to learn tennis split into stages starting from ages 3 up to 17 years.
Tots Tennis is for the really little ones, 3 - 5 years and are a fun and easy way to start tennis. The lessons consist of basic movements, skills and simple hitting so your child is able to hit their first shots as soon as possibl
Red Tennis is for children aged 5-8 years old and consists of learning the basic strokes, lots of movement and co-ordination – sessions take place on a smaller court and of course all have fun at the same time.
Orange Tennis is for children aged approximately 8-9 years old consists of enhancing the strokes from red tennis, movement skills, co-ordination and tactics - sessions take place on a 3/4 length court with orange balls, a bit easier than full court tennis.
Green Tennis is for children approximately 9-10 years old who are able to play on a full court. Green balls are just slightly easier than yellow tennis balls, players continue to enhance their strokes, skills, balance and more tactical situations.
Yellow Tennis is for children aged 11 - 17 years approximately who are able to play on a full court with the players learning all the shots in tennis, tactical situations and match play.
Tennis Camps will be run for in the Easter, Summer holidays including May and October half terms. Please note non members are allowed to enter the tennis camps but membership of the club entitles you to preferential rates !
Adult Coaching Programme
Ladies Mornings A new ladies morning will run for beginners/intermediates on a Wednesday morning starting in March, there are 8 spaces available for this class. The Friday ladies morning for Intermediates/advanced level continues with George.
Wednesdays Evenings improvers session resumed on 30th November with Patrick at 7 15pm to 8 15pm (courts 1 and 2).
A FREE tennis clinic for members is available on Saturday 9th December at 2pm Doubles Drills and Tips, this is ideally aimed at intermediate level + and courts will be made available for members who would still like to do their club session as normal.
We have more plans that are evolving for this coming spring/summer such as the schools programme, more adult classes for beginner/improvers, tennis events including match plays and we will keep you updated. Naturally private lessons are available too and all groups lessons are reasonably priced at variable rebates depending upon group numbers - please enquire
I hope this gives you a more accurate picture of what's on at Woldingham LTC.
Thank you for reading this email and if you are interested in one of the above coaching classes please do not hesitate to contact me via email, text or phone.
Kind regards,
